Karachi: MCB Investment Management Limited, the management company of the MCB Pakistan Stock Market Fund, announced its financial results for the half-year ending December 31, 2024. The results were approved by the Board of Directors during their meeting at the company's head office in Karachi on February 4, 2025.
The fund reported total assets of 16.86 billion rupees as of December 31, 2024, significantly higher than the 7.38 billion rupees recorded on June 30, 2024. This growth was driven by increased investments, which rose from 6.98 billion rupees to 15.40 billion rupees over the same period.
Liabilities also saw an increase, reaching 649.00 million rupees from 167.70 million rupees. However, the net assets of the fund grew impressively to 16.21 billion rupees from 7.22 billion rupees, indicating robust financial health and performance of the fund.
The number of units in issue stood at 71.16 million as of December 31, 2024, compared to 47.80 million as of June 30, 2024. This increase was accompanied by a rise in net asset value per unit from 150.94 rupees to 227.82 rupees.
In terms of income, the fund saw a significant rise in profit from savings accounts and dividend income. The net realized gain on the sale of investments and net unrealized appreciation on re-measurement of investments also contributed to a total income of 5.01 billion rupees for the half-year ended December 31, 2024, compared to 2.41 billion rupees for the same period in 2023.
Expenses for the period were reported at 261.82 million rupees, up from 122.90 million rupees in the previous year. Despite this increase, the fund achieved a net income of 4.75 billion rupees before taxation, compared to 2.29 billion rupees the previous year, demonstrating a strong financial performance.
According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), the comprehensive income for the half-year was reported at 4.75 billion rupees, reflecting a substantial increase from the 2.29 billion rupees recorded during the same period last year.
The fund also reported cash flows from operating activities amounting to 1.77 billion rupees, with net cash generated from financing activities reaching 4.25 billion rupees. This resulted in an increase in cash and cash equivalents to 1.42 billion rupees by the end of the period.
Overall, MCB Pakistan Stock Market Fund's financial results indicate a strong and growing performance for the half-year ended December 31, 2024.
