Mari Energies Limited Announces Fourth Hydrocarbon Discovery at Spinwam-1 Well in Waziristan

Karachi: Mari Energies Limited has announced a fourth discovery of gas and condensate at the Spinwam-1 exploratory well in the Lockhart Formation, located within the Waziristan Block in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province, according to a company statement released on April 8, 2025. This latest discovery follows previous announcements of hydrocarbon finds in the same well across different formations, dated February 25, March 17, and April 3 of this year.

The test results from the Lockhart Formation revealed significant flow rates under varying choke sizes. With a choke size of 64/64 inches, the well produced 70.3 MMSCFD of gas and 310 barrels per day of condensate, with a wellhead flowing pressure of 3,264 psig. With a reduced choke size of 32/64 inches, the gas flow was measured at 29.3 MMSCFD and condensate at 166 barrels per day, while the wellhead pressure increased to 4,993 psig.

Mari Energies Limited operates the Waziristan Block with a 55% working interest. It partners with Oil and Gas Development Company Limited, which holds a 35% stake, and Orient Petroleum Inc., with a 10% interest, in this joint venture. The testing program for all target formations at the Spinwam-1 well has now concluded.

According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), this announcement is expected to be disseminated among the TRE certificate holders. The designated market category for this information remains centered on exploration and production activities in the hydrocarbon sector.

The discovery at the Spinwam-1 well marks a significant addition to the energy resources in the region, continuing a series of successful explorations by Mari Energies and its partners.
