PICIC Insurance Limited Reports Significant Financial Shift Amid Third Quarter Losses

Karachi: PICIC Insurance Limited has announced its financial results for the quarter ending September 30, 2025, reflecting a substantial downturn in profits. The Board of Directors, during their meeting on October 24, 2025, held at the company's headquarters on I.I. Chundrigar Road, Karachi, disclosed that no cash dividend, bonus shares, or right shares would be distributed for this quarter.

The company reported a total asset value of 109.07 million rupees at the end of the third quarter, a moderate move increase from 105.31 million rupees recorded on December 31, 2024. Despite this increase in assets, the company's equity suffered a loss, with total equity reported at negative 31.06 million rupees, compared to negative 10.97 million rupees at the end of the previous year.

According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), PICIC Insurance's liabilities showed a notable increase, rising to 140.12 million rupees from 116.28 million rupees. The net insurance premium for the quarter stood at negative 3,494 thousand rupees, consistent with the same period last year, while the underwriting results showed a negative balance of 3,494 thousand rupees.

The company experienced a very large or significant move in its comprehensive income, with a total comprehensive loss of 20,084 thousand rupees, compared with a profit of 3,590 thousand rupees in the same period last year. Earnings per share fell to a loss of 0.10 rupees, down from a loss of 0.05 rupees in the previous year.

Despite the challenging financial figures, cash flow from operating activities showed a positive trend, with a reported inflow of 3,039 thousand rupees. However, this was overshadowed by a decrease in liabilities amounting to 29.92 million rupees, leading to a significant loss after taxation of 14,736 thousand rupees.

The company conveyed that the quarterly report, inclusive of detailed financial statements, would be made accessible through the Pakistan Unified Corporate Action Reporting System (PUCARS) within the stipulated timeframe.
