Karachi: MCB Funds Investments for Life has reported a decline in its total assets and net income for the period ending September 30, 2025. According to the condensed interim statement of assets and liabilities released on October 30, 2025, the company’s total assets decreased to 94.36 billion rupees from 116.54 billion rupees recorded in June 2025.
The reduction in assets was primarily attributed to a significant drop in balances with banks, which fell to 60.43 billion rupees from 78.70 billion rupees. Investments also saw a downturn, reaching 32.48 billion rupees from the previous 37.54 billion rupees. Meanwhile, profit receivable significantly increased to 1.30 billion rupees from 254.51 million rupees, and advances, deposits, prepayments, and other receivables rose to 151.93 million rupees from 57.68 million rupees.
Liabilities for MCB Funds also saw a decrease, from 3.38 billion rupees in June to 291.32 million rupees in September. This reduction was influenced by the payable against redemption of units, which vanished from 2.30 billion rupees to nil in the latest report. Accrued expenses and other liabilities also dropped from 982.44 million rupees to 182.83 million rupees. As a result, the net assets of the company decreased from 113.16 billion rupees to 94.07 billion rupees.
The number of units in issue fell to 897.30 million from 1.11 billion, while the net asset value per unit increased slightly to 104.8379 rupees from 102.3351 rupees, marking a minor move of 2.45%.
MCB Funds reported a total income of 3.12 billion rupees for the period, a slight decrease from 3.23 billion rupees in the previous year. The income from government securities dropped significantly to 1.36 billion rupees from 2.51 billion rupees in 2024. However, profits on bank deposits rose sharply to 1.55 billion rupees from 324.38 million rupees.
Operating expenses increased to 350.90 million rupees from 209.83 million rupees, with the remuneration of the Management Company rising to 268.61 million rupees from 159.23 million rupees. Despite these increased expenses, the net income from operating activities stood at 2.77 billion rupees, down from 3.02 billion rupees in the previous year.
According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), the net income for the period after taxation was 2.77 billion rupees compared to 3.02 billion rupees in 2024. The company did not report any other comprehensive income for the period, resulting in a total comprehensive income similar to the net income.
In terms of cash flows, MCB Funds reported a net cash used in operating activities of 5.61 billion rupees compared to a negative 40.44 billion rupees in the previous period. The cash flows from financing activities showed a net use of 21.86 billion rupees against a gain of 11.49 billion rupees previously. Consequently, the cash and cash equivalents at the end of the period stood at 62.45 billion rupees, a decline from 78.70 billion rupees at the beginning of the period.
