KARACHI: Oil & Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) has announced the successful commencement of gas production from the Sahito-1 discovery well, located in the Khewari Exploration License area in District Khairpur, Sindh Province. The announcement, made on June 23, 2026, marks a significant milestone for the company as it continues to enhance its production capabilities.
Sahito-1 is currently producing 6.0 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD) of gas. Production levels are anticipated to increase progressively with the planned expansion of surface facilities. To expedite the early monetization of this discovery, OGDCL has installed a 6-inch, 5 km flowline connecting the well to the Suleman Gathering Facility for further processing at the Sinjhoro Plant. The gas, once processed, is being integrated into the SSGCL network.
According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), OGDCL holds a 75% working interest as the operator of the Khewari Exploration License joint venture, with Government Holdings (Private) Limited (GHPL) holding the remaining 25%. This strategic partnership underlines OGDCL’s commitment to the efficient development and monetization of indigenous hydrocarbon resources.
The commencement of production is in compliance with Section 96 of the Securities Act, 2015, and Clause 5.6.1(a) of the PSX Regulations, ensuring the information is disseminated among market participants, reflecting the company's adherence to regulatory transparency. The designated market category remains consistent as OGDCL continues to strengthen its role within the energy sector.
