Karachi: The National Clearing Company of Pakistan Limited (NCCPL) announced on July 28, 2026, the introduction of the Minor Client Code feature in its Unique Identification Number (UIN) System. This development is aimed at streamlining the process of opening and managing trading accounts for investors below 18 years of age, under the supervision of their legal guardians.
The newly implemented feature introduces a dedicated Minor Flag within the UIN Add Screen, allowing Authorized Intermediaries (AIs) to categorize a client as a Minor during the creation of a new client code. This system also permits AIs to designate existing clients as Minors by selecting the Minor Flag, where applicable. It is important to note that once a client code is marked as Minor, this status is irrevocable through the UIN System. As a result, AIs are encouraged to thoroughly verify each investor's eligibility and conduct appropriate due diligence prior to applying the Minor Flag.
According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), this initiative is part of NCCPL's broader strategy to enhance the accessibility of financial markets to a younger demographic, thereby fostering a culture of early financial literacy and investment acumen among future investors.
This announcement signifies a significant step towards accommodating the needs of young investors within Pakistan’s financial markets, providing a structured framework for their participation with adequate oversight from legal guardians.
