Pakistan Petroleum Limited Prepares for Crucial Director Elections

Karachi: Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) is set to conduct its election of directors at an Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, at the Pearl Continental Hotel, Karachi, as well as through a video link. The board has decided that ten directors will be elected for a three-year term, as per Section 159 of the Companies Act, 2017.

Eleven candidates have offered themselves for election. These include Mr. Abdul Ghani Dadabhoy, Mr. Dawood Muhammad Bareach, Mr. Ikramullah Khan, Mr. Laeeq Ahmed, Mr. Mirza Nasir-Ud-Din Mashhood Ahmad, Mr. Mohammad Irfan Siddiqui, Mr. Qumar Sarwar Abbasi, Ms. Sadia Khan, Mr. Shahid Khan, Mr. Shakeel Qadir Khan, and Mr. Syed Ali Shehryar. The election will follow the guidelines outlined in the Public Sector Companies (Corporate Governance) Rules, 2013.

According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), PPL remains a key player in the designated market category, focusing on exploration and production within the energy sector. The outcome of these elections could significantly influence the company's strategic direction and governance.

Members intending to participate in the EGM, either in person or via proxy, are advised to register no later than 24 hours before the meeting. For those opting for postal balloting, completed ballot papers must be submitted to the company's registered office by business hours on September 14, 2026.

Additionally, a statement and form of proxy have been submitted by a member representing minority shareholders, encouraging participation in the election process. This member, standing as an independent director, emphasizes their commitment to governance, regulation, and public sector reforms as beneficial to both the company and its minority shareholders.
