Big Bird Foods Limited Reports Robust Financial Growth Amid Challenges

Lahore: Big Bird Foods Limited, a prominent player in the poultry industry, has announced a notable performance for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2026, as detailed in its annual report released on October 5, 2026. The company reported significant growth in sales and profitability, despite facing challenges in input costs and regulatory compliance.

For the fiscal year 2026, Big Bird Foods Limited recorded net sales of Rs. 14.76 billion, a substantial increase from Rs. 11.36 billion in the previous year. This 29.9% rise in sales underscores the company's strong market presence and expanding consumer demand. The gross profit also saw an increase of 28.9%, reaching Rs. 3.07 billion, although the gross profit margin experienced a slight decline to 20.80% from 20.96% in the prior year. The decline was attributed to rising input costs.

The company's operating profit rose by 29.1%, with profits from operations amounting to Rs. 2.46 billion, compared to Rs. 1.91 billion in the previous year. Profit before tax demonstrated significant improvement, surging by 37.3% to Rs. 2.14 billion. However, profit after tax showed a modest increase of 4.37%, amounting to Rs. 1.17 billion, due to a higher tax charge that reduced the net profit margin from 9.8% to 7.9%.

According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), Big Bird Foods Limited's earnings per share saw a minor move, increasing by 1.38% from Rs. 3.75 in 2025 to Rs. 3.80 in 2026. This improvement highlights the company's adeptness at leveraging top-line growth to bolster bottom-line performance.

The company's total assets as of June 30, 2026, stood at Rs. 16.85 billion, with a significant portion allocated to property, plant, and equipment, reflecting its commitment to enhancing production capabilities. Shareholders' equity reached Rs. 10.54 billion, supported by a share capital of Rs. 3.29 billion and accumulated profits of Rs. 3.06 billion. The company also reported a surplus on revaluation of operating fixed assets amounting to Rs. 2.94 billion.

Despite the robust financial performance, the Board of Directors decided not to declare a dividend for the year 2026, citing the need to enhance capacity utilization, working capital requirements, and liquidity position. The company is focusing on strategic investments and operational efficiencies to sustain growth and market competitiveness.

Big Bird Foods Limited continues to prioritize sustainability and environmental stewardship, as evidenced by the installation of a 3 MW solar power system aimed at reducing carbon emissions and reliance on conventional energy sources. The company also engages in water conservation and waste recycling initiatives to minimize its environmental footprint.

The management remains committed to maintaining high standards of corporate governance and regulatory compliance, ensuring that its operations align with industry best practices and legal requirements. With a strategic focus on innovation and efficiency, Big Bird Foods Limited is poised to navigate the dynamic challenges of the poultry industry while pursuing sustainable growth in the coming years.
