Karachi: Merit Packaging Limited released its annual financial report for the year ending June 30, 2026, revealing a substantial reduction in total assets from the previous year, alongside a notable swing to profitability despite a sharp decline in revenue.
The company's total assets stood at 4.01 billion rupees, down from 5.02 billion rupees in 2025, marking a significant move of 20.00%. This decrease is attributed primarily to a reduction in current assets, which fell to 1.70 billion rupees from 2.02 billion rupees, and the absence of assets classified as held for sale, previously valued at 494.34 million rupees.
In terms of liabilities, Merit Packaging Limited reported total liabilities of 1.62 billion rupees, a decrease from 2.74 billion rupees the previous year. The company's current liabilities saw a large move, dropping to 1.24 billion rupees from 2.36 billion rupees, reflecting a strategic reduction in short-term borrowings and trade payables.
According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), the company's revenue fell significantly by 35.13% to 3.43 billion rupees from 5.28 billion rupees in 2025. Despite this decline, the company managed to swing from a loss to a profit, reporting a net profit of 123.64 million rupees, compared to a loss of 599.67 million rupees the previous year. This turnabout is primarily attributed to a substantial increase in other income, which rose to 591.78 million rupees from 27.80 million rupees, and a marked decrease in financial charges.
The earnings per share improved to 0.62 rupees from a loss per share of 3.00 rupees in 2025, indicating a positive move in shareholder value. This financial outcome highlights the company's strategic focus on cost management and operational efficiency in a challenging market environment.
