Siddiqsons Tin Plate Limited Records Mixed Financial Results Amidst Market Challenges

Karachi: The Directors of Siddiqsons Tin Plate Limited have released their unaudited condensed interim financial statements for the three-month period ending September 30, 2026, presenting a detailed overview of the company's operational and financial performance amidst challenging market conditions.

On November 3, 2026, the company shared that it has made strides in expanding its international market presence by securing new export orders and initiating shipments to key markets. This move is seen as a strategic step towards market diversification and future growth. However, the domestic market faced setbacks due to increased imports of Chinese tinplate and competition from lower-cost alternative packaging materials, leading to reduced production capacity utilization.

The company's net sales revenue declined by approximately 25%, standing at Rs. 481.524 million compared to Rs. 639.402 million during the same period last year. This downturn in sales resulted in a significant drop in gross profit, which fell to Rs. 9.837 million from Rs. 90.460 million in the previous corresponding period.

Despite these operational challenges, Siddiqsons Tin Plate Limited reported improved financial results. A substantial increase in other income, amounting to Rs. 122.073 million, was largely due to the write-back of certain liabilities from prior periods. Finance costs also decreased by approximately 26% to Rs. 47.629 million, down from Rs. 64.168 million last year, providing relief to the company's overall financial expenses.

The company recorded a profit before taxation of Rs. 47.483 million, a notable increase from Rs. 18.488 million in the corresponding period last year. Furthermore, profit after taxation reached Rs. 40.260 million, compared to Rs. 8.897 million in the same period last year, resulting in an improvement in earnings per share to Rs. 0.18 from Rs. 0.04.

According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), the global tinplate market is undergoing significant changes in trade dynamics, largely influenced by anti-dumping duties imposed on Chinese tinplate by several countries. These shifts have opened new avenues for compliant manufacturers to enhance their international market share.

Domestically, increased imports of dumped Chinese tinplate and a growing preference for more affordable alternative packaging materials have intensified competition for local manufacturers. However, a gradual reduction in domestic interest rates to approximately 11%, down from the 22% finance cost in the previous year, is anticipated to alleviate financing costs and bolster financial performance in future periods.
