Islamabad: The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) has reinforced the requirement for listed companies to disclose gender pay gap data in their annual reports and on their websites. This directive is in accordance with Circular No. 10 of 2024, highlighting the need for transparency and the promotion of gender equality within the corporate sector.
According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), this mandate is a continuation of previous directives, such as Notice No. PSX/N-1140 dated November 26, 2024, and subsequent notices, with the latest being Notice No. PSX/N-1218 dated October 05, 2026. These efforts align with the Prime Minister’s Women Empowerment Package 2024, aiming to enhance gender equality and diversity in business practices across Pakistan.
As the financial year concluded on September 30, 2026, companies with fiscal years ending in September are specifically reminded to adhere to these disclosure requirements in their forthcoming annual reports. The SECP has also provided a template and guidance to facilitate the calculation and reporting of gender pay gaps, applicable to financial years ending on or after June 30, 2024.
Non-compliance with this directive, including incomplete information in the annual report or on the website, may result in enforcement actions by the SECP against the listed companies. The SECP’s mandate leverages powers under Section 510 of the Companies Act, 2017, underscoring the significance of these disclosures for fostering an equitable corporate environment.
