Alhamra Islamic Stock Fund Reports Decline in Net Income Despite Increased Dividend Income

Karachi: The Board of Directors of MCB Investment Management Limited has released the financial results for the Alhamra Islamic Stock Fund, showing a decline in net income for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2026. The results, approved during a board meeting held on August 4, 2026, at the company's head office in Karachi, highlight a decrease in total income compared to the previous year.

The fund recorded a total income of 2.90 billion rupees for the year ended June 30, 2026, down from 3.05 billion rupees in the previous year, marking a very large or significant move of -4.77%. This decline occurred despite an increase in dividend income, which rose to 350.05 million rupees from 319.52 million rupees. Profit from savings accounts with banks also showed an increase, reaching 64.19 million rupees, up from 30.25 million rupees.

However, net realised gains on the sale of investments saw a decrease, dropping to 987.00 million rupees from 1.58 billion rupees. According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), such movements within the market can significantly impact the financial outcomes of investment funds.

The expenses for the year also saw a substantial rise, totaling 426.80 million rupees, up from 273.16 million rupees in the previous year, which represents a very large or significant move of 56.31%. Key contributors to the increased expenses included the remuneration of the management company and trustee fees, along with associated Sindh sales taxes.

The net income from operating activities stood at 2.48 billion rupees, down from 2.77 billion rupees, reflecting a decrease in profitability. The net income for the year after taxation mirrored this trend, standing at 2.48 billion rupees compared to the previous year's 2.77 billion rupees.

The allocation of net income for the year, after accounting for the income paid on units redeemed, resulted in 1.40 billion rupees available for distribution. This included capital gains-related income of 1.40 billion rupees, while excluding capital gains, there was no income available for distribution.

The financial results indicate challenges faced by the Alhamra Islamic Stock Fund in maintaining its previous year's income levels, despite certain areas of growth. The board's approval of these results underscores the importance of strategic management in navigating fluctuating financial landscapes.
