Bestway Cement Limited Reports Significant Financial Growth Amid Economic Challenges

Karachi: Bestway Cement Limited has announced a notable financial performance for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2025, as detailed in the Chairman's Review. Despite a modest recovery in Pakistan's economy, with a 2.7% GDP growth driven by reduced inflation and increased remittances, the cement industry faced challenges including weak construction activity and rising royalties and taxes. These factors resulted in lower domestic dispatches and subdued capacity utilization.

Bestway has consistently focused on innovation and efficiency, maintaining strict financial discipline. During FY-25, the company successfully navigated challenging circumstances, achieving growth in revenues and profitability. The company reported a 16% increase in gross turnover, rising from Rs. 145.6 billion to Rs. 168.5 billion. Gross profit reached Rs. 37.3 billion, while net profit after tax amounted to Rs. 23.9 billion. Consequently, the Board of Directors has recommended a final dividend of Rs. 10 per share, bringing the aggregate distribution to Rs. 34 per share for the year.

According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), Bestway Cement Limited's financial achievements are commendable given the prevailing economic environment. The company has also made significant strides in sustainability, meeting a substantial portion of its energy requirements through renewable sources. This positions Bestway as a leader in adopting green energy within Pakistan's industrial sector.

In addition to its financial success, Bestway Cement Limited has demonstrated a strong commitment to corporate social responsibility. The company allocated over Rs. 410 million to various CSR initiatives, earning recognition as one of the country's largest corporate contributors in this regard. These efforts include improving access to health services, education, vocational training, and environmental conservation programs, primarily through the Bestway Foundation.

Bestway's governance framework emphasizes compliance with Pakistani regulations, including the Companies Act 2017 and the Code of Corporate Governance, ensuring stakeholder confidence. Sound governance practices are integral to the company's success, with a focus on meeting legal and regulatory requirements.

Looking ahead, Pakistan's economic landscape remains fragile, influenced by past instability, global uncertainties, and unresolved structural issues. While recent signs of macroeconomic stabilization offer some relief, sustainable recovery depends on implementing deep-rooted structural reforms. Bestway Cement Limited remains strategically focused and proactive, positioning itself to capitalize on emerging opportunities in anticipation of a recovery in construction activity.

The company extends gratitude to its Board of Directors and dedicated workforce for their efforts in steering Bestway towards achieving its objectives and ensuring value creation for shareholders.
