EFU General Insurance Ltd Sees Shareholding Shift Among Key Stakeholders

Karachi: EFU General Insurance Ltd has disclosed a significant shift in shareholding among its key stakeholders. This revelation follows a report dated August 3, 2026, detailing transactions executed by a substantial shareholder and his spouse under the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) regulations.

According to the report, Mr. Rafique R. Bhimjee, a substantial shareholder of EFU General Insurance Ltd, transferred 2,000,000 shares as a gift to his spouse, Mrs. Naila Bhimjee, on July 31, 2026. The transaction was conducted through the Central Depository Company (CDC) and resulted in Mr. Bhimjee's cumulative shareholding reaching 20.19 million shares, which represents 10.10% of the company's shares.

Mrs. Naila Bhimjee, as the recipient of the gifted shares, now holds a total of 5.34 million shares, which equates to a 2.67% stake in the company. This transaction marks a notable movement within the market as per the designated market category.

According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), the transactions will be presented in the upcoming board meeting for further review and confirmation. The report also confirms that the holding period for these transactions exceeds six months. If any profits arise from transactions within a six-month period, they are required to be deposited with the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP), in compliance with Section 105 of the Securities Act, 2015.

Furthermore, the company has stated that no director, CEO, or executive has engaged directly or indirectly in any dealings of the company's shares during the closed period. This assurance reflects the company's adherence to regulatory requirements and transparency in its operations.
