Gatron Industries Reports Quarterly Financial Loss Amid Sales Decline

Karachi: Gatron Industries Limited announced its financial results for the quarter ended September 30, 2024, disclosing a significant reduction in profitability compared to the previous year. The company, headquartered in Quetta, reported no distribution of cash dividends, bonus shares, or rights shares, reflecting its current financial position.

The unaudited financial statements reveal a considerable drop in sales, which decreased from PKR 7.91 billion in the July-September 2023 period to PKR 5.90 billion in the same quarter of 2024. This decline in revenue was accompanied by a decrease in gross profit, falling from PKR 266.68 million to PKR 15.17 million year-over-year. According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), administrative and other operating expenses also saw variations, albeit lesser compared to the stark decrease in sales and gross profit.

The financials indicated an operating loss of PKR 298.56 million for the quarter, a drastic shift from an operating profit of PKR 82.01 million in the previous year. Finance costs added further strain, totaling PKR 505.22 million. Consequently, Gatron Industries recorded a loss before levies and income tax of PKR 765.22 million, deepening from a loss of PKR 636.35 million reported last year.

The consolidated financial results painted a similar picture, with total sales reaching PKR 5.90 billion and a resulting gross profit of PKR 60.44 million. The operating loss for the consolidated entity stood at PKR 252.03 million, contributing to a comprehensive loss after income tax of PKR 793.88 million.

Gatron's performance this quarter reflects broader challenges within the industry, including increased costs and competitive pressures that have impacted its financial health. The company's response strategies to these conditions will be closely watched by investors and market analysts in the coming months.
