Jauharabad Sugar Mills Limited Reports Significant Financial Growth Amid Operational Challenges

Lahore: Jauharabad Sugar Mills Limited has reported a robust financial performance for the nine-month period ending June 30, 2025, according to the company's unaudited financial statements. The company's net sales surged to Rs. 8.29 billion, marking a very large or significant move from the Rs. 4.90 billion recorded during the same period in the previous financial year. This considerable increase in net sales is attributed to improved operational efficiencies and a strategic focus on cost-effectiveness.

The sugar sector in Pakistan is heavily regulated, with provincial authorities managing the sourcing and pricing of sugarcane to ensure market stability and affordability. Despite these regulations, the industry has faced challenges such as price fluctuations and supply shortages. The sugarcane production for the 2025/26 season is projected to rise, with expectations of reaching 83.5 million metric tons, resulting in an anticipated increase in sugar production to 6.9 million tons.

Operationally, Jauharabad Sugar Mills commenced its 2024/25 crushing season on November 21, 2024. The operational period extended to 110 days, an increase from the previous year's 103 days. However, the total sugarcane processed decreased by 5.21%, amounting to 623,733 metric tons compared to the previous year's 657,997 metric tons. Despite this reduction, the company achieved an improved sugar recovery rate of 10.104%, up from 9.854% last year, underscoring enhanced operational efficiency.

According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), the company's gross profit experienced a moderate move, increasing to Rs. 1.087 billion from Rs. 994 million in the previous year. The profit after tax (PAT) demonstrated a very large or significant move, reflecting a 71.5% growth, which underscores the company's strong bottom-line performance.

The company's financial success is further bolstered by a reduction in financial costs and an increase in earnings per share. Jauharabad Sugar Mills Limited remains optimistic about the potential recovery in sugar prices in the last quarter of the financial year, which is expected to benefit all stakeholders involved.

Despite the operational challenges, the company continues to maintain its commitment to sustainability and corporate responsibility by ensuring timely payments to growers and vendors. This approach has strengthened stakeholder confidence and supported long-term supply chain resilience. The company's board of directors has expressed gratitude to all stakeholders for their continued support and dedication.
