Mardan: Khyber Tobacco Company Limited reported a significant financial turnaround in its first quarter results, ending September 30, 2025. The company’s directors presented the un-audited condensed interim financial information, highlighting notable improvements across several key financial indicators.
The gross turnover for the period was recorded at 3.00 billion Pakistani Rupees, a 36% reduction from 4.66 billion Rupees in the same quarter of the previous year. However, the net turnover showed a 27% increase, totaling 1.58 billion Rupees compared to 1.24 billion Rupees in the prior year’s corresponding quarter.
The cost of sales decreased by 17%, amounting to 1.32 billion Rupees, a decline from 1.58 billion Rupees in the previous year. This reduction in the cost of sales contributed to a gross profit of 263.46 million Rupees, a 177% improvement from the loss of 341.45 million Rupees reported in the same quarter last year.
Profit before taxation witnessed a remarkable 107% increase, reaching 39.12 million Rupees, up from a loss of 580.23 million Rupees in the previous year. Similarly, the company’s profit for the period was 36.97 million Rupees, a 105% rise from a loss of 813.03 million Rupees in the corresponding quarter last year. According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), these figures indicate a very large or significant move in the company’s financial performance.
The company’s Earnings Per Share (EPS) for the quarter was reported at 5.34 Rupees, a substantial recovery from a loss of 117.45 Rupees per share in the same period last year.
In terms of future outlook, the company’s management expressed optimism about further improvements in local cigarette and tobacco sales. However, they cautioned that the liquidity position might be affected if the export trend does not improve.
The board of directors extended their gratitude to employees, customers, and strategic partners for their contributions during challenging times. They also acknowledged the support of suppliers, banks, and shareholders.
As of September 30, 2025, Khyber Tobacco’s total assets, including non-current and current assets, stood at 22.66 billion Rupees, with liabilities totaling 19.30 billion Rupees. The company’s stock in trade was valued at 15.52 billion Rupees, while trade debts amounted to 2.39 billion Rupees.
