Karachi: MCB Investment Management Limited, the management company of MCB Cash Management Optimizer, has announced its financial results for the half-year ending December 31, 2024. The Board of Directors approved the financial statement during a meeting on Tuesday, February 4, 2025. The meeting, held at the company's Head Office in Karachi, highlighted key financial metrics and performance indicators of the fund.
For the period ending December 31, 2024, the MCB Cash Management Optimizer reported total assets amounting to 141.06 billion rupees, a substantial increase from 47.40 billion rupees as of June 30, 2024. The company’s net assets stood at 139.71 billion rupees, surging from 46.80 billion rupees in the previous audited period. The number of units issued increased significantly to 1,254.61 million from the earlier 458.62 million, reflecting a strong investor interest and confidence in the fund's performance.
The interim financial statements included the Statement of Assets and Liabilities, Statement of Profit and Loss, Statement of Other Comprehensive Income, Statement of Movement in Unit Holders' Fund, and Statement of Cash Flows, all of which were provided for reference purposes. The Net Asset Value (NAV) per unit rose to 111.3546 rupees from 102.0403 rupees. However, the Earnings per Unit (EPU) were not disclosed due to the management's view that calculating the weighted average number of units is impracticable.
According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), MCB Cash Management Optimizer's net income for the half-year before taxation amounted to 5.91 billion rupees, an impressive increase from 4.55 billion rupees recorded during the same period in 2023. The income was primarily driven by capital gains on the sale of investments, profit on term and bank deposits, and income from government securities. Total operating expenses amounted to 510.77 million rupees, up from 325.65 million rupees in the corresponding period of the previous year, reflecting the fund's expanded operations and marketing activities.
The cash flow from operating activities showed a net usage of 38.54 billion rupees, primarily due to a decrease in net investments. Meanwhile, cash flows from financing activities generated 86.99 billion rupees, resulting in a net increase in cash and cash equivalents to 78.59 billion rupees by the end of the period.
