Karachi: MCB Investment Management Limited, the management company of MCB Pakistan Opportunity Fund, has announced the financial results for the year ended June 30, 2026. The announcement was made after a board meeting held at the company's head office in Karachi on Tuesday, August 4, 2026.
The fund reported a total income of 686.93 million rupees for the fiscal year 2026, a significant increase from 307.89 million rupees reported in the previous year. The primary contributors to this growth were the capital gain on the sale of investments, which surged to 403.43 million rupees from 78.06 million rupees, and dividend income, which rose to 135.32 million rupees from 76.38 million rupees.
According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), MCB Pakistan Opportunity Fund's income also benefited from a mark-up on bank deposits, which increased to 39.96 million rupees from 12.00 million rupees. However, there was a decline in unrealized appreciation on the re-measurement of investments, which fell to 108.22 million rupees from 141.45 million rupees.
The fund's expenses also saw an increase, totaling 109.26 million rupees compared to 35.23 million rupees in the previous year. Key expenses included the remuneration of the Management Company, which rose to 76.80 million rupees from 24.69 million rupees, and the Sindh sales tax on this remuneration, which increased to 11.52 million rupees from 3.70 million rupees.
The net income for the year before taxation amounted to 577.68 million rupees, up from 272.66 million rupees. After accounting for income already paid on units redeemed, the net income for the year was 400.97 million rupees, a considerable increase from the previous year's 199.99 million rupees.
The fund's accounting income available for distribution, divided into capital gains and income excluding capital gains, stood at 350.29 million rupees and 50.67 million rupees, respectively, marking a robust performance for the fiscal year 2026.
