Karachi: Meezan Bank Limited has released its financial results for the first half of 2026, revealing a net assets increase and an expansion in its total assets portfolio. The report, dated August 6, 2026, was disclosed through a formal letter, and the bank detailed its financial standing as of June 30, 2026, including the Standalone and Consolidated Statements of Financial Position.
The bank's total assets grew to 5.14 trillion rupees as of June 30, 2026, up from 4.81 trillion rupees at the end of December 2025. A significant contributor to this increase was the bank's investment portfolio, which rose to 2.90 trillion rupees from 2.60 trillion rupees. Balances with other banks also saw a notable increase to 35.27 billion rupees from 15.39 billion rupees, while the Islamic financing and related assets decreased to 1.59 trillion rupees from 1.64 trillion rupees.
Liabilities for the bank also increased, with total liabilities reaching 4.85 trillion rupees, compared to 4.53 trillion rupees at the close of 2025. Deposits and other accounts saw a surge to 3.74 trillion rupees from 3.30 trillion rupees. Bills payable rose significantly to 128.59 billion rupees from 73.77 billion rupees, while due to financial institutions saw a decrease to 743.26 billion rupees from 887.05 billion rupees.
Net assets for the bank amounted to 288.66 billion rupees, up from 279.26 billion rupees, with unappropriated profit contributing 206.85 billion rupees. Reserves increased to 63.18 billion rupees from 57.96 billion rupees, while the (deficit) / surplus on revaluation of assets moved to a deficit of 41.50 million rupees from a surplus of 14.38 billion rupees.
According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), Meezan Bank's earnings per share for the first half of 2026 stood at 27.15 rupees, compared to 25.72 rupees in the same period of the previous year. The bank's profit after taxation for the half-year was 48.88 billion rupees, a moderate move from 46.16 billion rupees recorded in the first half of 2025.
The bank has scheduled its Share Transfer Books to be closed from August 19, 2026, to August 20, 2026, with entitlements paid to shareholders recorded in the Register of Members by August 18, 2026. The financial report will also be transmitted through PUCARS within the specified time frame. The designated market category remains consistent with Meezan Bank's listing on the PSX.
