Karachi: National Foods Limited has declared an interim cash dividend for its shareholders, as reported in newspaper clippings published on April 29, 2025, in Business Recorder and Nawa-i-Waqt. The announcement follows a decision made by the company's Board of Directors during a meeting held on April 23, 2025. The Board has recommended an interim cash dividend of 40%, equating to Rs.2.00 per share, for the financial year ending March 31, 2025. This dividend is in addition to previous interim dividends already disbursed at the same rate.
The company has also announced that the Share Transfer Books will be closed from May 07, 2025, to May 09, 2025, inclusive. Share transfers received by the close of business on May 06, 2025, at the office of the Share Registrar M/S. Karachi, will be eligible for this interim cash dividend.
In compliance with Section 150 of the Income Tax Ordinance, 2001, shareholders not listed in the Active Taxpayers List (ATL) are advised to ensure their status is updated to avoid higher tax deductions. According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), withholding tax will be calculated individually for each shareholder, whether principal or joint, based on their respective shareholding proportions.
The Federal Board of Revenue has provided guidelines indicating that tax implications will differ depending on the active or non-active status of each shareholder in joint accounts. Shareholders are urged to submit the details of their shareholding proportions to the Share Registrar promptly to facilitate accurate tax determination. This measure is essential for shareholders to optimize their dividend returns and comply with tax regulations.
