Pak Datacom Reports Significant Financial Changes Amidst Decline in Profit

Karachi: Pak Datacom Ltd., a prominent player in the telecommunications sector, released its financial results for the year ended June 30, 2026, revealing a notable decrease in net profit despite an increase in revenue. The results, outlined in the statement of financial position, indicate shifts in both asset management and liabilities.

According to the financial statement, Pak Datacom’s total assets decreased to 2.01 billion rupees from 2.10 billion rupees in 2025. Notably, non-current assets saw an increase, with property and equipment valued at 307.22 million rupees compared to 200.69 million rupees in the previous year. Conversely, current assets declined, with trade debts rising to 814.31 million rupees from 539.65 million rupees, while contract assets and work in progress saw reductions.

The company's equity and liabilities structure reflected these changes. Share capital and reserves decreased to 1.40 billion rupees from 1.49 billion rupees the previous year. Non-current liabilities surged to 183.77 million rupees, driven by increased lease liabilities, while current liabilities showed a decrease to 428.57 million rupees.

The company reported a net revenue of 1.95 billion rupees, up from 1.86 billion rupees, signifying a very large move with an increase of 5.32%. Despite this, the cost of revenue also increased, resulting in a reduced gross profit of 231.00 million rupees, compared to 375.48 million rupees in 2025.

Administrative and marketing expenses contributed significantly to the financial outcome, with administrative expenses rising to 227.99 million rupees and marketing expenses to 60.59 million rupees. The impairment loss on financial assets and finance costs further impacted the bottom line.

The overall profit before levy and taxation fell sharply to 19.94 million rupees from 240.65 million rupees. After accounting for a newly introduced levy and a substantial income tax expense, the company reported a net loss of 15.90 million rupees, a stark contrast to the previous year's profit of 152.95 million rupees.

According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), these results reflect significant financial adjustments and challenges faced by Pak Datacom, impacting shareholder earnings, which saw a shift to a loss per share of 1.34 rupees, down from earnings of 12.90 rupees per share in 2025.

The report, dated November 5, 2026, highlights the financial dynamics within Pak Datacom, underscoring the company’s strategies amidst fluctuating market conditions and operational challenges in the telecommunications sector.
