Pakistan Cables Limited Reports First-Quarter Loss Amidst Financial Challenges

Karachi: Pakistan Cables Limited has announced its financial results for the first quarter ended September 30, 2025, revealing a loss for the period. The Board of Directors, in a meeting held on October 30, 2025, approved the interim un-audited accounts which highlight the company’s continued struggle in a challenging economic environment.

The company's financial report disclosed a loss after tax of Rs. 140.965 million for the quarter compared to a loss of Rs. 130.313 million in the same period last year. The earnings per share also reflected this downturn, recording a basic and diluted loss of Rs. 2.59, compared to Rs. 2.40 in the previous year’s corresponding quarter.

Despite the company's efforts to stabilize its financial position, the revenue from contracts with customers remained under pressure. The gross profit was reported at Rs. 618.921 million, a decrease from Rs. 787.744 million recorded in the same quarter last year. The Board did not recommend any cash dividends, bonus shares, or other entitlements for this period.

According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), the company’s financial health exhibited a big move, with a 1.5% decrease in shareholder equity, now standing at Rs. 9.401 billion compared to Rs. 9.462 billion as of June 30, 2025. The total liabilities also saw a very large move, increasing significantly due to a rise in short-term borrowings, which now total Rs. 11.405 billion.

The cash flow statement revealed a net cash usage in operating activities amounting to Rs. 796.509 million, while the financing activities resulted in a net cash outflow of Rs. 716.169 million. The company's investing activities reported a cash inflow of Rs. 521.723 million, primarily due to proceeds from the disposal of assets classified as held for sale.

The company’s assets and liabilities have also undergone changes, with total assets valued at Rs. 30.354 billion, and the total liabilities at Rs. 20.953 billion. The company maintains an issued, subscribed, and paid-up capital of Rs. 544.574 million, with capital reserves including a share premium reserve of Rs. 1.595 billion.
