Karachi: The National Clearing Company of Pakistan Limited (NCCPL) has announced the finalization of the aggregate amount of Capital Gain Tax (CGT) arising from various financial activities conducted in September 2026. The collection process is set to take place on November 4, 2026, involving Clearing Members, the Pakistan Mercantile Exchange (PMEX), and Asset Management Companies.
According to the NCCPL report dated October 28, 2026, the CGT collection will encompass multiple financial transactions. The tax arising from the disposal of shares at the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) for the period from September 1 to September 30, 2026, will be collected through the respective settling banks of the Clearing Members. All members have been requested to ensure the availability of requisite amounts in their respective accounts.
In addition, the CGT due from trading of future commodity contracts at the PMEX, covering the period from July 1 to September 30, 2026, has been finalized for collection on the same date. Details and reports for this period have been made available to the concerned entities.
The NCCPL has also completed the CGT calculations on the redemption of units from open-end mutual funds for the month of September 2026. This was based on transactional data received from Asset Management Companies, with the necessary reports having been uploaded to the CGT System.
According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), all Clearing Members are required to verify investor-specific details of capital gain or loss and the associated tax using the CGT System's reports. The NCCPL has instructed members to report any instances of non-collection or partial collection of CGT by providing names and Unique Identification Numbers (UINs) of defaulting customers immediately after the collection date to prevent potential penalties under the applicable rules and regulations.
