Providus Capital Acquires Shares in United Bank Limited

Karachi: Providus Capital (Pvt) Limited, an associate of Muhammad Jawaid Iqbal, President and CEO of United Bank Limited (UBL), has disclosed the acquisition of shares in UBL. According to a notification, Providus Capital has purchased a total of 305,512 shares in two separate transactions carried out in June 2025.

On June 13, Providus Capital acquired 304,011 shares at a rate of 516.28 per share. This transaction increased the cumulative shareholding to 50.99 million shares, representing 4.07% of the total shares in UBL. Subsequently, on June 16, an additional 1,501 shares were bought at a price of 515.89 per share, bringing the total holdings to 51 million shares, maintaining the cumulative percentage at 4.07%.

The transactions were facilitated in the ready market through the Central Depository Company (CDC) format. The data reflects a minor move in the shareholding percentage with respect to the total shares of UBL.

According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), these acquisitions are part of the regulatory disclosure requirements for directors, executives, and substantial shareholders of listed companies. The transactions highlight the ongoing interest and investment activities by Providus Capital in UBL.
