Karachi: Samba Bank Limited (SBL) announced its financial results for the half-year period ending June 30, 2024, during the 125th Board of Directors meeting held on August 27, 2024. The meeting was conducted via Webex, focusing primarily on approving the unaudited financial statements.
The bank reported that no cash dividend, bonus shares, or right shares were declared for the period. Additionally, there were no corporate actions or price-sensitive information disclosed.
For the half-year ended June 30, 2024, Samba Bank’s net profit after taxation stood at 662.93 million rupees, compared to 706.05 million rupees during the same period in 2023. The bank’s earnings per share for the half-year were reported at 0.66 rupees, down from 0.70 rupees in the corresponding period last year.
According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), the bank’s net markup or interest income for the half-year reached 3.91 billion rupees, an increase from the 3.57 billion rupees recorded during the same period last year. Total non-markup or interest income for the half-year was 889.82 million rupees, up from 440.88 million rupees in 2023, driven by foreign exchange income of 665.29 million rupees.
Operating expenses for the half-year amounted to 2.53 billion rupees, compared to 2.23 billion rupees in the prior period, while profit before taxation reached 1.30 billion rupees, up from 1.16 billion rupees in 2023. After accounting for taxation, the profit after taxation for the period was 662.93 million rupees.
The Board confirmed that the half-yearly report for the period will be transmitted through the Pakistan Unified Corporate Action Reporting System (PUCARS) within the specified timeframe.
