Karachi: The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) has released a Consultation Paper aimed at improving the public offering regime to enhance capital formation. This initiative, detailed in a document attached as an annexure to the recent notice, invites comments from all listed companies and TRE Certificate holders.
The Consultation Paper addresses improvements on both the supply and demand sides of public offerings. On the supply side, the focus is on creating a regulatory environment that enables businesses and issuers to raise funds efficiently and cost-effectively within a shorter timeframe. According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), these measures are designed to simplify and expedite the fundraising process, making it more accessible for companies.
On the demand side, the SECP proposes several enhancements to better the investor experience. These include measures to ensure more informed decision-making through improved disclosures and increased transparency, facilitating more accurate price discovery, and strengthening existing investor protection measures.
Stakeholders are encouraged to submit their feedback on the proposed changes by emailing [email protected] no later than September 20, 2024. This consultation process marks a significant step towards refining the framework governing public offerings in Pakistan, aiming to foster a more robust capital market.
