Temporary Suspension of Trading at Pakistan Stock Exchange Following Fire Incident

Karachi: Trading at the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) was temporarily halted today after a fire broke out on a floor housing a brokerage firm. The interruption occurred from 10:25 am to 11:25 am, impacting access to the building for several firms.

The fire initiated in the office of a brokerage firm within the PSX main building, leading to significant disruptions. In response to the emergency, the PSX authorities decided to suspend trading to ensure the safety of the staff and to assess the damage. This measure aligns with PSX Regulation 8.3.3, which provides guidelines for handling unforeseen disruptions.

According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), the temporary suspension was essential to address the immediate safety concerns and to facilitate the firefighting operations. The specific cause of the fire and the extent of the damage have not yet been disclosed.
