Karachi: Lucky Cement Limited, a major player in the construction industry, has announced the successful completion and commissioning of a significant renewable energy project at its Karachi facility. The project, which involves a 28.8 MW captive wind power plant, became operational on October 21, 2024.

According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), this development marks a pivotal moment for the company as it boosts its self-sufficiency in energy production. The new wind power plant, complemented by solar plants and waste heat recovery systems at both Karachi and Pezu locations, now enables Lucky Cement to generate 55% of its power needs from renewable sources.

This advancement aligns with the company's long-term strategy of reducing dependency on imported fuels and highlights its commitment to sustainable energy practices. The project was completed on time and within budget, which underscores Lucky Cement’s dedication to operational excellence and environmental stewardship.

Lucky Cement has instructed TRE Certificate holders to be informed about this significant enhancement in its operational capabilities, which not only promises to lower costs but also contributes to the broader environmental goals of reducing carbon emissions.
