Pakistan Credit Rating Agency Reports Strong First Quarter Performance with Revenue Growth

Lahore: The Pakistan Credit Rating Agency Limited (PACRA) has released its unaudited condensed interim unconsolidated financial statements for the first quarter ending September 30, 2026, showcasing significant growth in key financial metrics compared to the same period last year. This report, issued on October 30, 2026, outlines a robust performance despite traditionally slower revenue and earnings in the first quarter of the financial year.

According to the report, PACRA's revenue for the quarter was PKR 131.0 million, reflecting a 14.5% increase compared to PKR 114.4 million in the first quarter of the previous year. Operating costs rose by 18.2% to PKR 92.3 million, driven primarily by an increase in administrative costs due to higher legal and professional charges, and an 8.1% rise in remuneration costs. These increases were somewhat offset by a 5.2% decrease in infrastructure costs.

The company achieved an operating profit of PKR 38.7 million, marking a moderate move with a 6.6% increase from PKR 36.3 million in the corresponding quarter last year. Other income rose to PKR 6.0 million from PKR 3.5 million, attributed to higher profits from short-term investments, while finance costs decreased to PKR 0.4 million from PKR 0.7 million. Consequently, profit before tax was recorded at PKR 43.4 million, and after accounting for taxes, the profit stood at PKR 30.6 million. This represents a big move of 15.2% increase from the PKR 26.6 million recorded in the first quarter of the previous year.

Shareholders' equity has grown to PKR 362.9 million as of September 30, 2026, up from PKR 332.2 million at the close of the last fiscal quarter on June 30, 2026. Total assets amounted to PKR 549.1 million, rising from PKR 486.7 million over the same period. Cash and bank balances, along with short-term investments, were reported at PKR 207.0 million.

Earnings per share (EPS) for the quarter were PKR 0.41, compared to PKR 0.36 in the same quarter last year, demonstrating a positive trajectory for the company. According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), these results underscore PACRA's ability to navigate cost increases while achieving revenue growth.

The first quarter's financial outcomes suggest that PACRA is well-positioned to sustain its performance in the coming quarters, leveraging its financial stability and strategic investments to drive future growth.
