Reliance Insurance Reports Decline in Investment Income Amid Moderate PSX Performance

Karachi: Reliance Insurance Company Limited has released its half-yearly report for the nine months ending September 30, 2026, revealing a marked decline in investment income due to the moderate performance of the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX). The report, dated October 30, 2026, highlights that the decline in investment income was chiefly due to a reduction in unrealized gains on investments, which fell to Rs. 3.547 million this period from Rs. 304.638 million previously. According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), the benchmark index decreased by 4,085 points from 174,054.32 at the end of December 2025 to 169,969.32 as of September 30, 2026, a very large or significant move contrasting with the 43.75% gain seen in the corresponding period of the prior year.

The company also noted an increase in income from debt securities and bank deposits, which rose to Rs. 14.752 million, compared to Rs. 13.850 million in the previous year, reflecting enhanced returns due to prevailing interest rates. Profit before tax for the period was Rs. 187.163 million, a decline from the Rs. 492.260 million reported in the same period last year. Earnings per Share (EPS) were recorded at Rs. 1.74, compared to Rs. 2.68 in 2025.
