Karachi: United Brands Limited has released its unconsolidated condensed interim financial statements for the quarter ending September 30, 2026, revealing a significant shift in financial performance following strategic structural changes. The quarterly report, dated October 30, 2026, highlights a decrease in both revenue and gross profit as the company transitions operations.
United Brands Limited, primarily involved in the trading and distribution of consumer goods and allied products, has been operating solely through its DuPont business line since July 1, 2025. This follows a decision by the Board to transfer other business lines to a related entity, IBL Operations (Private) Limited, to increase operational efficiency.
During this quarter, the company reported a revenue of PKR 13.848 million, a substantial decline from the PKR 149.906 million recorded in the same period last year. This 91% decrease in revenue represents a very large or significant move. The revenue drop is attributed to the prior year's figures being inflated by the nil-margin transfer of business lines.
Gross profit also saw a decrease of 72%, totaling PKR 2.561 million, down from PKR 9.043 million the previous year. However, despite the fall in gross profit, the gross margin improved to 18%, from 6% last year, due to the exclusion of nil-margin transfers in the current quarter.
Operating expenses, net of other income, were reduced by 67% to PKR 3.312 million, aided by an other income of PKR 1.233 million, mainly from profit on term deposit receipts. Consequently, the operating loss decreased to PKR 0.751 million from PKR 1.131 million in the previous year.
The company's overall loss for the period was reduced by 71%, amounting to PKR 1.102 million, compared to PKR 3.789 million last year. This improvement was driven by a lower operating loss and a decrease in finance costs and taxation, which together were reduced to PKR 0.351 million from PKR 2.658 million.
According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), International Brands (Private) Limited remains the holding company of United Brands Limited, owning 96.08% of the shares. The basic and diluted loss per share for the quarter was recorded at PKR (0.01), in contrast to PKR (0.04) in the same quarter of the previous year.
The company's designated market category remains focused on consumer goods trading and distribution, reflecting its strategic focus on optimizing operational efficiency through structural changes.
