Crescent Cotton Mills Reports Significant Profit Increase Amid Global Challenges

Lahore: Crescent Cotton Mills Limited has reported a notable rise in pre-tax profits for the first quarter of the fiscal year 2026-2027, despite facing challenging market conditions influenced by global events. The company, in its financial statements released on October 30, 2026, disclosed a pre-tax profit of Rs. 69.378 million for the quarter ending September 30, 2026, marking a substantial increase from the Rs. 32.039 million reported in the same period the previous year.

Total sales revenue for the period reached Rs. 1,662.360 million, compared to Rs. 1,022.122 million in the corresponding quarter of the previous year. This growth is attributed to improved marketing strategies for yarn prices and the commencement of operations at the newly established Weaving Unit. The cost of sales decreased to 81.91% from 89.67% previously, reflecting a more efficient cost structure.

The directors noted a significant improvement in profit before tax, which surged by 116%, leading to earnings per share of Rs. 2.04, up from Rs. 0.80 in the previous year. Despite a modest recovery in the export market, the directors acknowledged that operational costs and competitive pressures remain challenges for profitability.

According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), the company's financial performance highlights its resilience amidst the ongoing US Middle East conflict, which has created widespread concerns for businesses globally by affecting demand. The report also pointed out rising costs, driven by global and domestic inflation, expected interest rate hikes, and a more than 50% increase in international oil prices, which have contributed to higher raw material costs and extended transit times.

The management emphasized its commitment to mitigating these challenges by continuing to serve new customers, focusing on innovation, and diversifying its product range. Investments in technology, energy efficiency, and sustainable operations remain central to the company's strategy, aiming to fortify its position within Pakistan's spinning industry.

The directors expressed gratitude to clients, bankers, and shareholders for their support, as well as appreciation for the dedication and hard work of the company's staff and workers.
