Lahore: Ghani ChemWorld Limited has released its unaudited financial results for the first quarter ending September 30, 2026, revealing a net loss of Rs. 67.70 million, as reported on October 30, 2026. This compares unfavorably to a net profit of Rs. 63.92 million reported during the same period last year. The basic and diluted loss per share for the quarter stood at Rs. 0.27 and Rs. 0.26, respectively.
Despite recording gross sales of Rs. 101.18 million and net sales of Rs. 85.75 million from its Calcium Carbide operations, the company reported a gross loss of Rs. 259.10 million. The challenging economic environment and operational cost structure contributed to the financial performance, which was further strained by geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, disruptions in maritime routes, and port congestion impacting export activities.
Other income for the quarter was Rs. 370.10 million, primarily generated from divesting shares in Ghani Chemical Industries Limited. This infusion of income allowed the company to post an operating profit of Rs. 100.75 million, a significant improvement from an operating loss of Rs. 0.93 million in the previous year's corresponding quarter. However, finance costs of Rs. 95.94 million resulted in the overall net loss for the period.
According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), Ghani ChemWorld's financial performance reflects the complex macroeconomic landscape in Pakistan, marked by a real GDP growth of 3.6% in FY2025-26 and rising consumer price inflation reaching 10.3% year-on-year as of September 2026. The International Monetary Fund (IMF) projects economic growth at 3.5% for FY2026-27, with inflationary pressures anticipated to persist.
The company's management remains focused on mitigating risks through operational efficiency, cost optimization, and disciplined capital allocation. Efforts are underway to strengthen the domestic market presence amidst ongoing international trade challenges. The Board is committed to safeguarding shareholder value and enhancing the company's financial and operational stability.
The economic outlook for the coming quarters will be influenced by international energy price trends, geopolitical developments, exchange rate stability, and the progress of structural reforms. Ghani ChemWorld Limited's strategic response to these dynamics aims to sustain its operational and financial performance in a volatile global economic environment.
