Karachi: Gharibwal Cement Limited has announced the commencement of commercial operations for its newly installed 12.5 Megawatt (MW) solar power system at its plant site. This development was shared in accordance with the requirements set by the Rule Book of Pakistan Stock Exchange Limited and relevant provisions of the Securities Act, 2015.
The new solar power system, which became operational on June 16, 2025, has been integrated with the company's existing 12MW solar infrastructure. The combined solar generation capacity now totals 24.5MW, significantly boosting the company's ability to meet its captive energy requirements through renewable sources.
According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), this strategic investment is part of Gharibwal Cement Limited's broader sustainability objectives and long-term energy cost optimization strategy. By enhancing reliance on renewable energy resources, the company aims to reduce its dependence on fossil fuels while contributing to environmental conservation.
The company has informed the TRE Certificate Holders of the Exchange accordingly. This initiative marks a significant step in Gharibwal Cement Limited's efforts to align with global trends favoring sustainable energy solutions.
