Karachi: The Hub Power Company Limited, through its wholly owned subsidiary Hub Power Holdings Limited, has announced participation in a consortium aimed at exploring the acquisition of a significant equity stake in the Islamabad Electric Supply Company Limited (IESCO). The disclosure was made on October 27, 2026, in accordance with the Securities Act, 2015, and the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) regulations.
In a strategic move, Hub Power Holdings Limited has partnered with Lucky Cement Limited, Kohat Cement Company Limited, and Metro Ventures (Private) Limited to form the consortium. This group has submitted an Expression of Interest and a Statement of Qualification to acquire a 51% to 100% equity stake, along with management control, in IESCO. The Government of Pakistan is offering this stake as part of a broader privatization initiative.
The Privatisation Commission has pre-qualified the consortium, along with other interested parties, granting them the opportunity to conduct financial, technical, and legal due diligence on IESCO. This process will precede a competitive bidding round, as stipulated by the applicable privatization laws.
According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), the consortium has not yet entered into any binding commitments regarding the acquisition. Such commitments will depend on the satisfactory completion of due diligence, obtaining necessary corporate and regulatory approvals, and determining the commercial viability of the transaction.
The Hub Power Company Limited, through its consortium, is currently focused on conducting a thorough due diligence process and assessing the feasibility of this acquisition opportunity, without any immediate binding commitments.
