Interloop Limited Reports Strong First Quarter Performance Amid Global Economic Challenges

Faisalabad: Interloop Limited has reported robust financial results for the first quarter of the fiscal year 2027, displaying a strong performance despite a challenging global economic environment. The company's directors presented the unaudited financial results alongside their review report for the quarter ended on September 30, 2026, reflecting significant growth across various financial parameters.

The period under review was marked by heightened geopolitical tensions and economic uncertainty, affecting global markets. The US-Iran conflict and associated risks to commercial shipping routes like the Strait of Hormuz contributed to increased volatility in energy markets. These factors, alongside inflationary pressures, prompted monetary tightening by major central banks, including the US Federal Reserve and the European Central Bank. According to the International Monetary Fund's World Economic Outlook released in October 2026, global economic growth is projected at 3.1% for 2026 and 3.4% for 2027, with inflation at 4.7% for 2026.

Pakistan's economic landscape mirrored these global challenges, with inflation increasing to 10.2% from 4.3% in the previous year. The country's trade deficit widened due to faster growth in imports compared to exports. Nonetheless, the textile and apparel sector, a key part of Pakistan's economy, showed resilience, with exports rising by 5.3% year-on-year to USD 5.03 billion.

Interloop Limited's financial performance in this context was notable. The company reported a 13.6% increase in net sales, reaching PKR 49,708 million, up from PKR 43,774 million in the corresponding period last year. Gross profit rose by 11.2% to PKR 11,327 million, with the gross profit margin steady at 23%. Operating profit increased by 21.7% to PKR 7,594 million, bolstered by stronger gross profitability and higher other income, largely from gains on derivatives.

The company's net profit surged by 52.9% to PKR 4,277 million, and earnings per share increased from PKR 2.00 to PKR 3.05. This growth translated into a significant enhancement in the net profit margin, which improved to 8.6% from 6.4%.

According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), Interloop's performance underscores its ability to leverage revenue growth into profitability, enhancing shareholder returns. The company's strategic focus on optimizing cost drivers and improving sales volumes contributed substantially to these results.

The company's consolidated financials also showed a positive trend, with net sales growing by 12.3% to PKR 50,749 million and net profit attributable to Interloop shareholders rising by 53.8% to PKR 4,247 million. However, the subsidiary company's 20% decline in sales impacted the overall profitability of the group.

Despite the challenges posed by both domestic and international economic conditions, Interloop Limited's first-quarter performance highlights its resilience and strategic acumen in navigating a complex economic landscape. The results affirm Interloop's position in the textile industry, demonstrating robust growth and profitability amid global and local economic pressures.
