Karachi: The National Clearing Company of Pakistan Limited (NCCPL) has issued new hardware and software specifications for its terminals, aiming to improve the performance, efficiency, and security of its business applications. This announcement, dated July 25, 2025, outlines essential updates for market participants who rely on these systems for their operations.
The updated specifications are part of NCCPL's ongoing efforts to align with the latest technological trends. According to the newly released guidelines, the minimum hardware requirements for NCCPL applications include an Intel Core i5, 6th generation or above processor, a minimum of 8 GB RAM, and at least 80 GB of hard disk space, with a preference for a 256 GB SSD. Peripheral devices such as a keyboard, mouse, LCD, LAN card, and an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) with a 30-minute backup are deemed necessary.
On the software front, users must have a licensed operating system, specifically Windows 10 Professional (64-bit) or Windows 11 Professional (64-bit), complete with critical fixes. Adobe Acrobat Reader DC version 20 or above, a licensed antivirus/anti-malware, and a Host Intrusion Prevention System (HIPS) are required, with Forti-client specifically exempted. The recommended web browsers for all NCCPL applications, except the 'CKO Biometric System', are Microsoft Edge version 137.0.3 or above, while Firefox or Google Chrome in their recent versions are suggested for the biometric system.
Connectivity options include LAN within the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) Building, Multinet or Cybernet fiber leased lines, and Internet DSL with a static IP. Terminal Tracker is also available through DSL dynamic IP. According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), these specifications are crucial for ensuring the smooth operation of NCCPL systems.
NCCPL strongly advises that the PC dedicated to its applications should not be used for other purposes to maintain maximum security, performance, and efficiency. Internet browsing on these PCs is discouraged, except for connecting to NCCPL systems via Internet DSL.
