Pakistan Engineering Company Faces Risk Warning Alert Over Penalty Non-Payment

Karachi: The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) has issued a Risk Warning Alert (RWA) against Pakistan Engineering Company Limited (PECO) following the company's failure to pay a penalty imposed under the PSX Regulations. This development, highlighted in a report dated October 5, 2026, comes with a compliance deadline set for October 12, 2026.

According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), the RWA was initially notified on July 14, 2026, under Notice No. PSX/N-882. The alert stems from PECO’s non-compliance with clause 5.21.1 of PSX Regulations, which has led to the current enforcement measures. The company has been given until October 12 to resolve the non-compliance issue by settling its outstanding dues.

Failure to meet the specified compliance deadline will result in the PSX initiating further enforcement actions under clause 5.11.3.(e) of the PSX Regulations. These measures include the possibility of issuing a compulsory buy-back direction to the major shareholders or sponsors of PECO. However, if PECO rectifies the non-compliance of PSX Regulation 5.11.1.(d) within the given timeframe, the company will continue to be quoted on the Non-Compliant Segment due to non-compliance with another regulation, namely PSX Regulation 5.11.1.(g), until all issues are fully addressed.

The situation places PECO under significant scrutiny as the compliance deadline approaches, with potential implications for its shareholders and market positioning within the designated market category.
