Karachi: Sanghar Sugar Mills Limited, in its financial disclosure for the nine months ending June 30, 2026, announced a substantial increase in its profit margins, marking a notable period of growth and efficiency. According to the un-audited Condensed Interim Financial Statements presented by the Board of Directors, the company showcased significant gains in both production and financial performance.
For the 2025-26 season, the company reported cane crushing volumes at 566,108.128 metric tons, up from 464,266.434 metric tons in the previous 2024-25 period. This increase in cane crushing resulted in sugar production of 61,550.000 metric tons, rising from 46,023.000 metric tons the year before. The recovery percentage also saw a rise to 10.875% from 9.920%, underscoring improved operational efficiency over a slightly extended season duration of 102 days compared to 96 days in the prior year.
Financially, Sanghar Sugar Mills Limited reported a profit before levies and taxation of 269.63 million Rupees, a significant increase from the previous period's 142.126 million Rupees. The profit before taxation stood at 269.63 million Rupees, up from 75.436 million Rupees. Following taxation expenses of 146.835 million Rupees, the profit for the period concluded at 122.795 million Rupees, compared to 71.475 million Rupees the year before. Earnings per share increased to 10.28 Rupees from 5.98 Rupees.
According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), the local sugar sales increased by 6.32%, even as overall sugar sales decreased by 10.12% compared to the previous period. The reduction in overall sales was attributed to export sales dynamics and a 2.33% decrease in the weighted average cost of production. Additionally, the sale of by-products surged, with molasses sales up by 14.04% in quantity and 20.66% in value, and bagasse sales seeing a 57.00% increase in quantity and 109.85% increase in value.
