Share Certificates of Multiple Companies Reported Lost, Replacement Process Initiated

Karachi: In a series of unfortunate incidents, share certificates of several prominent companies have been reported lost or misplaced by shareholders, triggering a formal process for the issuance of duplicate certificates. The announcements were made by CDC Share Registrar Services Limited in a report dated October 2, 2026.

Askari Bank Limited (AKBL) is among the affected companies, with a total of 6,151 shares reported lost. The report details that shares belonging to Mr. Mesam Ali Salwati and Mrs. Fatima Bano are missing, with distinctive numbers ranging across several categories. Shareholders have been advised to refrain from transactions involving the lost certificates until further notice.

Similarly, Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited has reported a loss of 534 shares under the ownership of Mr. Hameed Khan. The company has also issued a cautionary notice to the members of the exchange against dealing in the affected shares.

The Cherat Cement Company Limited (CHCC) and GlaxoSmithKline Pakistan Limited (GLAXO) have recorded losses of 131 and 64 shares, respectively. Both companies have listed the shares as belonging to the late Zahid Sethi. Additionally, Pakistan State Oil Company Limited (PSO) reported 14 shares lost, attributed to the same deceased shareholder.

Mirpurkhas Sugar Mills Limited (MIRKS), Pakistan National Shipping Corporation (PNSC), and Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGC) were not spared. They collectively reported losses amounting to several hundred shares, with the distinctive numbers belonging to the late Zahid Sethi.

According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), shareholders have been informed that objections regarding the issuance of duplicate certificates must be submitted within three days of the notice. Failure to receive objections will result in the issuance of new certificates, and no subsequent claims will be entertained.
