Karachi: Tri-Pack Films Limited has reported a 7% increase in revenues for the nine months ending September 30, 2026, despite facing challenges in both domestic and export markets. The company's quarterly report, released on October 30, 2026, highlights significant financial improvements compared to the same period last year.
The revenue increment, which amounted to Rs. 24,893 million from Rs. 23,283 million in 2025, primarily reflects the pass-through of higher raw material costs. However, the company faced a decline in overall sales volumes. Domestically, this was attributed to disruptions in raw material supplies due to regional geopolitical issues, which resulted in increased film imports from China and a local supply surplus. On the export front, Tri-Pack Films encountered challenges due to high freight costs and logistics surcharges, impacting its price competitiveness.
Gross profit for the period rose to Rs. 4,186 million from Rs. 3,210 million in the previous year, indicating an improvement in gross profit margins from 14% to 17%. According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), this represents a big move. The enhancement in gross profit margins was achieved through proactive pricing strategies and operational efficiencies, despite the imposition of the Grid Levy and increased raw material prices.
Operating profit increased to Rs. 2,308 million from Rs. 1,641 million, while the interest cost slightly decreased to Rs. 1,883 million from Rs. 1,967 million. The exchange loss also reduced significantly to Rs. 25 million from Rs. 82 million.
The company reported a profit before tax and levies of Rs. 1,190 million, a significant turnaround from a loss of Rs. 158 million last year. After tax, the net profit stood at Rs. 339 million, compared to a net loss of Rs. 373 million in the same period last year. Earnings per share improved substantially to Rs. 8.75 from a negative Rs. 9.61.
A notable contribution to the financial results was a one-off remeasurement gain of Rs. 599 million from the settlement of the Sindh Infrastructure Development Cess liability under the Sindh Development and Maintenance of Infrastructure Cess (Amendment) Act, 2026.
