United Distributors Pakistan Limited Reports 12% Sales Growth Amid Market Challenges

Karachi: The Directors of United Distributors Pakistan Limited presented the un-audited condensed interim financial statements for the first quarter ended September 30, 2026, showcasing a 12% increase in net sales to Rs. 253.5 million from Rs. 226.5 million in the equivalent quarter of the previous year. This growth reflects the Company's strategic focus on market development and customer engagement despite challenging conditions in the agriculture sector.

The report, dated October 30, 2026, highlighted that the economic environment is gradually stabilizing, with inflation under control and policy rates lower than the previous year. However, the agriculture sector faced difficulties due to constrained grower liquidity and cautious spending on inputs, affecting demand for crop protection products and fertilizers.

The Company's gross profit also rose by 12% to Rs. 101.3 million from Rs. 90.8 million, maintaining a stable gross profit margin of 40%. This stability demonstrates the Company's disciplined approach to pricing and product mix. Administrative and general expenses decreased by 21% to Rs. 24.1 million, while other operating expenses fell by 45% to Rs. 4.93 million. Finance costs reduced by 35% to Rs. 2.54 million, indicating effective financial cost management.

Marketing and distribution expenses remained largely stable at Rs. 79.3 million, showcasing the Company's commitment to maintaining its market presence and investing in field activities despite inflationary pressures on operational costs.

The profit after taxation for the period was Rs. 257.1 million, with earnings per share at Rs. 7.29, compared to Rs. 422.7 million and Rs. 11.98, respectively, in the corresponding quarter of the previous year. The decline in profit was mainly due to a reduction in other income, which was Rs. 283.5 million, down from Rs. 472.9 million in the same period last year.

According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), the Company’s financial position remains robust with short-term investments at Rs. 1.77 billion and cash and bank balances at Rs. 41.7 million as of September 30, 2026. Shareholders' equity increased to Rs. 1.26 billion from Rs. 994.4 million at the end of the previous year.

The Company's ongoing focus on operational efficiency and cost rationalization continues to yield positive outcomes, evident in the financial performance of the quarter under review.
