Escorts Investment Bank Reports Increased Annual Loss Amid Declines in Revenue

Karachi: Escorts Investment Bank Limited has disclosed its financial results for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2026, revealing a notable increase in its annual net loss. The bank reported a net loss of 73.79 million rupees for the year, compared to a loss of 68.40 million rupees in the previous fiscal year. This marks a significant move in the financial performance of the bank, as the losses have deepened over the year.

The financial results, released on October 7, 2026, show a decline in total income, which fell to 77.56 million rupees from 108.38 million rupees the previous year. This decrease was driven by declines across various income streams, including profit on financing, which decreased to 55.42 million rupees from 84.41 million rupees, and income from fee and commission, which dropped to 4.03 million rupees from 8.58 million rupees.

Expenses for the year also saw a reduction, with administrative expenses decreasing to 146.50 million rupees from 159.09 million rupees. Finance costs were cut nearly in half, falling to 2.96 million rupees from 5.20 million rupees. Despite these reductions, the bank's overall expenses still exceeded its income, contributing to the loss before taxation of 77.63 million rupees, an increase from the previous year's loss before taxation of 66.81 million rupees.

According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), the bank's basic and diluted loss per share also widened to 0.54 rupees from 0.50 rupees a year earlier, reflecting the bank's ongoing financial challenges.

The report highlights a decrease in other operating expenses to 4.93 million rupees from 9.70 million rupees, while levies were reduced to 0.80 million rupees from 1.20 million rupees. Notably, the bank recorded a positive taxation figure of 3.85 million rupees, compared to a negative 1.59 million rupees in the previous year, which partially offset the pre-tax losses.

The financial results underscore the challenges faced by Escorts Investment Bank in reversing its fortunes amid a challenging economic environment.
