Hub Power Group Consortium Pre-Qualified for GEPCO Stake Acquisition

Karachi: The Hub Power Company Limited, through its wholly owned subsidiary Hub Power Holdings Limited, has announced its participation in a consortium aiming to acquire a significant equity stake in Gujranwala Electric Power Company Limited (GEPCO). The intended acquisition ranges from 51% to 100% of the equity, alongside management control, as part of the Government of Pakistan's privatization efforts. The disclosure was made on October 7, 2026, in compliance with Sections 96 and 131 of the Securities Act, 2015, and Regulation 5.6.1 of the PSX Regulations.

The consortium, formed by The Hub Power Company Limited alongside notable corporate players—Lucky Cement Limited, Kohat Cement Company Limited, and Metro Ventures (Private) Limited—has been shortlisted and pre-qualified by the Privatization Commission. This pre-qualification allows the consortium to conduct comprehensive financial, technical, and legal due diligence on GEPCO. The stake will eventually be offered through a competitive bidding process, as dictated by the prevailing privatization laws.

According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), neither The Hub Power Company Limited nor the consortium has committed to any binding agreements concerning the acquisition of equity in GEPCO. Such a commitment will depend on the successful completion of due diligence, securing all necessary corporate and regulatory approvals, and confirming the commercial viability of the transaction.

At this juncture, the consortium's efforts are concentrated on executing a thorough due diligence assessment to evaluate the feasibility of this acquisition opportunity. The disclosure was made by Faiza Kapadia Raffay, General Manager Legal & Company Secretary of The Hub Power Company Limited, with the registered company address at 9th Floor, Ocean Tower, Block-9, Main Clifton Road, Karachi, Pakistan.
